Our Credit Underwriters are responsible for assessing customers' ability to repay finance, making credit decisions in line with company criteria and credit policy and within service level agreements to ensure excellent customer journeys.

The successful candidate will ensure that maximum efficiencies are gained and multi skilling is appropriate and effective. As a Credit Underwriter you will also be required to support the achievement of departmental KPI’s and Service Level Targets.

Our Underwriters deliver exceptional service, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to make fair and responsible credit decisions based on customer information swiftly and diligently.

We are looking for an individual who is dedicated to providing outstanding support to our internal Stakeholders and passionate about getting the right outcome for the customer. Ownership is one of our core values therefore, you will take responsibility for your own efficiency and productivity whilst proactively seeking ways to improve processes and procedures through identifying inefficiencies.

Key responsibilities:

Making high quality decisions in accordance with the company’s lending policies and satisfying relevant credit refer rules

Work to agreed SLA’s and escalate priority cases to enhance customer experience

To review applications and identify potential ‘accept’ cases to approve

Completing affordability checks and leading conversations with customers around credit file information

Self-motivated and takes accountability for own workloads with minimal supervision when required

Support Credit Underwriting Manager in daily role and assist with any ad hoc duties as and when required

Assist with the completion of admin tasks including customer/retailer appeals

Accountable for Default Performance Management – completed via reviews of accepted cases / bad debt ratio

The ideal candidate will demonstrate good knowledge of lending application processes and systems and be able to handle difficult conversations when delivering ‘decline’ decisions/appeals. We are also looking for excellent attention to detail, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
