The Opportunity


Macildowie Marketing are currently recruiting for an experienced Web Designer/Developer to join a well known global B2C organisation on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to progress into a long term, permanent position.


Working as part of the Web team this role will take responsibility for a number of websites, pages and other web solutions globally in the UK and overseas. This will involve working closely with internal experts to understand their requirements as well as other stakeholders within the organisation.


Working to guidelines and with support form other Web team members this post will take responsibility for ensuring design, and architectural integrity is maintained by all content on the websites. You will provide guidance in the ongoing development of web presence using the CMS and will lead the design and ongoing evolution for parts of the website including multi-media and mobile developments.


Key Responsibilities


-Develop page templates, layouts, and in-page elements within brand guidelines, creating and enhancing the front-end user experience of the website. Liaise closely with staff responsible for certain business areas to ensure site elements meet their needs.
-Take the lead on sub-site development projects whenever possible, liaising with colleagues across various divisions as necessary, and ensuring that deadlines and project objectives are met.
-Advise and assist colleagues with web design and development for campaigns or projects that include elements of digital (e.g. social media) or web marketing.
-Provide support and guidance for CMS users from across the Organisation during the development or re-development of web sites. Handle any layout or content-related support requests arising after project completion. Be involved in technical web issues such as domain names, redirection and proxying.
-Develop HTML email templates or other digital tools or features as required for specific projects.
-Liaise with support staff from the company that produce the CMS to ensure problems and issues are dealt with effectively and that the CMS software is continuously improved and enhanced.

Key Requirements


-Significant experience of developing websites for large organisations using a content management system
-Experience Creating and editing of graphics using Adobe Photoshop or another graphics package
-Good understanding of web accessibility & usability guidelines and principles
-Knowledge of W3C accessibility guidelines and the importance of Equality Act compliance
-Written communication and presentation skills
-Awareness of Brand Compliance and its importance
-Ability to demonstrate concepts and technologies to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing
-Knowledge and experience of using CMS
-Awareness of legal issues such as copyright, data protection and GDPR
