DBA / Database Administrator / SQL Server / Que Processor / Always On / Azure

We are working with a dynamic global leader in online trading to recruit a Senior Database Administrator for an ASAP start. You will be responsible for implementing enhancements to all aspects of the current database architecture. Similarly, you will need to ensure that all SQL Server database systems are high performing and highly available at all times.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required

Degree in relevant field
Microsoft SQL Server MCITP/ MCA level certification
Good knowledge of advance SQL internals and Que Processor Fundamentals
Powershell
Experience in managing and migrating large volumes of data. Compression, partitioning and ETL
Highly proficient in T-SQL, writing complex stored procedures
Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM environment
Experience of working within Financial Services organization
Core MS SQL Server skills up to SQL 2016/SQL 2017 (must have actively worked in a SQL 2016 production environment for some time)
Database design, build, tuning and monitoring in a high transactional organization
Maintaining high availability of all databases
In-depth SQL Replication and Always On knowledge
Expertise in design and administration of SQL Server 2016 SSIS, SSRS, SSAS infrastructure
Knowledge and experience of current 3rd party SQL Server tools
Azure data warehouse implementation and management
Migration of databases from on premises to cloud

Key Responsibilities

Assist with day to day management of the database architecture covering live and non-live environments
Liaise with all areas of IT and the business to understand and implement IT and business strategy requirements
Ensure that systems are carefully monitored and that any major issues are escalated to management
Take part in planning and estimation work for each sprint, actively involved in discussing technical solutions
Be an active participant in sprint retrospectives and take any actions forward for continual improvement on the team’s ability to deliver
Take part in and sign off on SQL script code reviews
On call cover as a part of a rotation with other members of the team
Designing and building high performance Always On Solutions
Experience of Enterprise SQL Server upgrades
Developing ‘best practice’ standards within the DBA team and working with local and remote development teams to ensure these standards are adhered to
Working effectively with other infrastructure teams where required to ensure high performance
Adhere to and proactively enhance the firm’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations and codes of conduct in all jurisdictions in which the Firm conducts business and which have an impact on its business
Maintain a high level of conduct, ethical standards and values
Work to identify risks and enhance control across the business
Report control weaknesses, illegal, suspicious or unusual activity
Maintain an appropriate level of competence through ongoing training, making requests for updates or development as required
Ensuring the clients are treated fairly by knowing the customer and giving suitable advice where appropriate, providing an appropriate level of service, communicating clearly and fairly and ensuring complaints are reported
