ROLE: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Cannock, West Bromwich, Birmingham
SALARY: £30,500

Reporting to the Technical Services manager you will make a significant contribution to the company’s drive towards the total Quality concept, co-ordinating supplier and customer requirements. Support the customer in all technical issues, providing technical solutions to any customer issues. Provide data supporting the recommendations put forward, and will be responsible for participating in the continuous improvement activities for the customer.
Key Responsibilities
• To visit customers daily offering technical support, monitoring S&A’s performance within IATF16949, ISO9001 and ISO14001.
• To establish in conjunction with customers requirements for individual parts with emphasis on the Company’s internal processes.
• To relate customers requirements to all personnel/departments enabling suitable controls of key characteristics and processes.
• Work with suppliers and hire processors to ensure the complete supply chain is aware of all processes and end use requirements, and that these are met.
• Ensure that ongoing development in steel product/production/processing and quality assurance techniques are known and applied for company and customer benefits.
• To ensure any commercial issues are filtered through to S&A’s Account Manager on a daily basis.
• To monitor and log all 8D’s produced by his/her customers ensuring all 8D’s are responded to within the customer’s strict timetable.
• To monitor and provide statistical evidence of trials at the customer providing comprehensive reports on the trials to both quality and commercial at S&A.
• Maintain and develop comprehensive but concise reporting systems at all levels.
• To monitor the incoming quality of the product into the customer ensuring the quality standards are met.
• To introduce continuous improvement activities and to participate in the customers improvement teams.
• To push forward strategic developments and highlight any opportunities.
• To support customers with technical visits.
• To champion CCAR’s.
• Have the authority the stop the manufacturing process, reject or quarantine material which they suspect is not suitable for the customers’ requirements.
