Electronics Development Engineer / Technical Support Engineer – Based in East Sussex

Working on NPI projects and in the returns department identifying electronic faults

Electronics development experience in a manufacturing environment

£28k - £31k basic salary

The Electronics Development Engineer / Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for the following.

*
Supporting the returns department.

*
A drive will be returned by a customer and investigation by the Technical Support Engineer will begin

*
The Technical Support Engineer will attempt to establish the root cause of the problem using a variety problem solving techniques such as 8D

Fault Finding Process

*
Once the drive has been returned, the Technical Support Engineer start the fault-finding process

*
Connect to a pump and identify any potential issues

*
Take the drive to pieces and fault find to a component level using logic analysers, oscilloscopes, and other tools

*
Typical components in the system are Resistors, Transistors, 16 amp power supply, OpAmps, Diodes, Mosfets, Serial Communications (RS232, RS485)

*
Replace / identify where the fault is and recommend design / manufacturing changes to the development team

*
Completing the written documentation to support all the fault finding and repairs

Involved in the development of the new products

* Working in the NPI team on the hardware of the system
*
Running safety tests (EN61010) once the product is made

*
40-50 tests (EMC & Environmental) and write reports

*
Design those tests from scratch, this will be with the support of the other engineers in the team.

The candidate must possess the following skills to be considered for this role:

*
Electronics engineering qualification, either a HNC / HND / Degree

*
Previous exposure to both digital and analogue systems

*
Background in hardware development

*
Understanding of engineering principles that underpin the development of an electronic system

*
Capable of fault finding and repair down to a component level

*
Able to design a system from scratch if required

*
This role would suit a person with a genuine love and interest in electronics

* Will need to be assertive, presentable, good communicator and commercial
