The main focus of this role will be to work across a portfolio of projects, contributing in a variety of ways through theoretical modelling, analysis and experimentation to deliver improvements in experimental procedures/techniques, novel solutions and new products.

Reporting to the Senior Development Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Research, development and maintenance of relevant physics and technology knowledge
- Theoretical analysis, design and execution of laboratory experiments
- Constant and rapid prototyping methods to support the innovation process
- Device and product design with associated development testing
- Driving radical change in the capabilities of products to deliver superior benefits to the consumer
- Improving processes and tools which support product development
- Influencing projects and turning ideas into reality

To be considered for this position the following qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience are required:

- BSc, PhD qualified in Physics, Engineering Physics or equivalent
- Excellent working knowledge of physics with a demonstrated ability to apply it to engineering challenges
- Experience in electronic consumer products, medical and handheld devices (Advantageous)
- A practical hands-on approach and an enthusiasm for applying physics to solving real problems under real constraints
- Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers (mechanical, electronics, software, etc.) and ability to contribute to multiple projects.
- Effective communicator, capable of managing and collaborating with external partners
- Enthusiasm for finding innovative solutions to engineering challenges
