Quality Engineer required for multi-site aerospace component manufacturing company.

Reporting to the Quality Manager the Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the customer quality requirements and expectations.

Responsible for all aspects of Quality control, Quality assurance compliance and inspection, to ensure Quality KPI’s achieve and exceed Customer requirements. Lead support for several customer and company related projects together with Root Cause Analysis when and where required.


* Professional qualification relevant for the role
* Qualified Lead Auditor an advantage.
* Substantial experience in a Quality Engineering role
* Ability to read and understand customer drawings and specifications.
* Six Sigma Green Belt an advantage as would experience within Aerospace / Automotive manufacturing environment.
* Strong organisation and planning skills - focus and drive and influence quality support to achieve targets / results in a pressured environment.
* Self-motivated and confident.
* Sound decision making and problem solving around quality KPI’s including process improvements and scrap / waste reduction.
* Proven Project Management Skills
* Excellent analytical skills to monitor and manage KPI’s.
* Continuous improvement mentality.

Duties to include:

* Act as the liaison with external customers on all matters relating to quality, safety and environment.
* Develop and maintain Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) documentation including PFMEA, MSA, R&R, SPC, Control and inspection Plans.
* Work closely with the Project team at all stages to ensure conformance to customer requirements for all aspects of quality, safety and environment
* Assist and Control the required LAIRS and FAIRS requirements.
* Support evaluation and development of improved techniques for the control of quality, reliability and safety.
* Complete quality system audits both internally and at supplier premises to ensure both compliance to system requirements and to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
* Promote Quality Assurance through training and development programs.
* Facilitate Root Cause Analysis workshops and take the lead in investigating internal and external non-conformances. Be conversant in RCA tools and techniques including PPS, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Pareto, Is/Is not Matrix.
* Provide support to all functional areas of the business unit
* Work with other departments to implement and support cost reduction initiatives (scrap reduction, increased RFT, vendor performance improvements etc).
* Deputise for the Quality Manager as and when required
* Host Customer and Supplier visits as and when required.
* Use and update failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to determine best resolution for issues.
