The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for the strategic design, implementation and management of a range of on-line and off-line communication platforms.

To enhance the communications and awareness of the business through the management and development of company digital channels, supporting the creation of content rich, engaging material relevant across the audience bases of the organisation. To provide clear analysis of the effects of our communications, usage of platforms, feedback and engagement wins, to support the continuation and development of effective communication. Manage the companies digital channels including the internal intranet, employee engage App, company website and social media channels responding to day to day queries. Analyse and use customer/audience feedback to identify new opportunities in digital outreach. This role will also contribute to the creation and implementation of a digital strategy to support external communications and employee engagement activities.

Good understanding of all aspects of digital communications and social media and be able to keep up to date with new developments as they happen, particularly on the technical side.

Experience of developing and delivering an organisational digital strategy to plan, deliver and analyse digital campaigns.

Experience of delivering regular reports analysing impact online, including use of websites and social mentions/interaction, identifying issues successes and opportunities.

Knowledge of best practice in accessibility across digital platforms, and experience of applying this in digital campaigns.

Experience of developing policies/practices for best digital practice.

Managing search engine optimisation to drive people to company digital platforms, and monitoring the effectiveness of the website and other digital platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Digital Channels

·Manage all digital channels on a day to day basis in support of continuing to raise awareness of the company and ensuring key messages are delivered in line with business stream activity and business objectives.

·Ensure frequent content is scheduled across all relevant channels in a timely manner, highlighting the many divers roles and activities of the company.

·Collate information of external mentions across all channels including news of AirTanker, Defence, RAF, Aviation Industry and Government engagement.

·Research and analyse digital trends and novel channels, identifying new platforms and methods for increasing engagement with our audiences.

·Identify relevant content that engages our audiences to increase engagement, followers and corporate understanding.

·Respond to enquiries on our digital channels as appropriate including the facilitation of staff engagement opportunities such as discussion forums.

·Supporting ‘live’ engagement at events, such as Staff business briefings, COO breakfast, Staff Awards and external events.

·Provide SME support to department heads and business stream leaders to identify methods of maximising content delivery content and key messages through digital opportunities.

·Optimise digital and social media outputs, including text, images, video and audio, and focussing on internal and external campaigns which require coordination with other teams within the organisation

·Protect and enhance the organisation’s public reputation when speaking on its behalf through digital outreach.

·Work with department intranet champions to identify best practice and ensure a high level of user experience

·Support the delivery of internal campaigns to increase awareness and demonstrate through analytics success rates

·Development of the company intranet platform and employee app in collaboration with IT and identify new opportunities to improve the user experience.

·Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for two way engagement activity for staff and ease of information.

·Work with the External and Internal Communication & Engagement Managers to produce fully integrated online and offline campaigns.

Content Management

•Review online content, making sure it meets users’ needs, is up to date, and is search engine optimised

•Provide quality control support e.g. proof-reading, editing and making sure all content is on brand and message.

•Management of the corporate media library including photos, audio and film files.


·In line with the Crisis Communications plan develop robust processes and procedures for the management of digital monitoring and communication, to ensure the business can respond effectively in a crisis situation.

·Champion best practice by supporting the company Business Improvement initiative programme to ensure the department maintains efficient processes.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of AirTanker are required to be security cleared to SC level. If successful in your application we would support you with the SC process. As a guideline only, you would normally need to have been a UK resident for the last 5 consecutive years. Further confirmation can be found on the National Security Vetting (NSV) website
