Infrastructure Engineer- A new Opportunity has arisen to work for a fantastic company based in Watford (for the right candidate the client will look at a Central London based location). This role is for a leading UK Software Microsoft provider who is currently going through an exciting IT transformation. They are looking for an individual that has experience in Microsoft, networking and VMware. Key responsibilities: * Designing and implementing various information systems and making improvements on current ones; this includes P2v and v2v migrations, unified communications deployments, Microsoft exchange, SQL clusters upgrades and PKI deployment and other different assigned tasks * Making sure that all work undertaken is in line with change management policies and that it is approved and documented in internal systems. * Working on the ?on call rota? every 4 weeks. This will be supporting the business out of core business hours. * Reviewing systems currently in place and making various configurations to suggest different improvements that need to be put in place. * Undertaking various service requests where you will have to undertake 2nd and 3rd line technical issues. You will troubleshoot incidents until full resolution is complete utilising a ticketing system. * Setting up new client?s infrastructure. * Support managers with systems and networks, making sure all security internal policies are met. * This role will be working 70% of the time on projects. This will include new designs and implementations. 30% of the role is supporting operations which will be looking after ticketing and support work for junior members of the team. Key Skills and Experience- * Scripting Experience (Powershell or PS DSC would be desirable) * Extensive experience in Microsoft servers (2003-2012) but also have great knowledge with Microsoft services design, implementation and management directory * Ability to configure networks and design them based on Dell, Cisco and Meraki solutions. * Large amount of experience with VMware and networking. * Monitoring systems and techniques to gather necessary performance and availability metrics to respond to the events. * Confident with infrastructure-based technology * The understanding of switches, rules and redirection manipulations.
