Temporary Legal Secretary
We're currently recruiting for a temporary legal secretary to work for a leading law firm based in the Aztec West area. This role is based within the wills and probate department. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND PURPOSE: To provide a full and efficient secretarial service to the fee earner exercising confidentiality and client care at all times. The jobholder must possess excellent word processing and audio typing skills. Good interpersonal skills are essential. MAIN DUTIES: • Audio typing of letters/documents/reports as dictated by the fee earner and compiling enclosures. • Using Lawman, create new files, adding details to client list of case matters and create a new directory for all subsequent correspondence/letters. • Liaise with fee earner to issue monthly bills and monitor any outstanding debt. • Provide assistance to clients and other professionals in fee earner’s absence. • Taking telephone calls, passing on messages and liaising with fee earners. • Filter messages and maintain contact with fee earner whilst working away from the Bristol office. • Maintain contact details of clients and professionals. • Contact clients and arrange meetings. • Filing, faxing and photocopying. • Ensure files are kept tidy and filing is up to date (both electronic and hard copy). • Photocopy and store Wills; ensure Wills database is kept updated. • Close files when matter is completed. Check there is a nil balance with accounts; confirm destruction date with fee earner. • Willingness to assist other secretaries with workload, if required. • Assist with the preparation of refreshments/beverages for client meetings. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE A high standard of audio and WP skills. Professional attitude to work and colleagues at all times. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines. Experience within a legal practice. Hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm.
