The Project account within the Commercial Department is critical to the business as the main interface between the company and its customers for dealing with financial and commercial issues during a project. The Project Accountant's functions would consist of (but not be limited to):-
-Providing commercial support to the project and maintaining control of same.
-Providing a service to the customer on commercial and financial issues.
-Ensuring that the company's objectives are achieved.
-Adhering to the company's working practises and policies.
-Valuing amendments to agreed packages of work.
-Agreeing final work packages and prices with customers.
-Compliance with the Company's Procedures
Purpose of Role:
To maintain the customer's account during repairs and if necessary afterwards through to final settlement also to monitor, maintain and report the financial achievement of the project to the company. To invoke constant change and improvement to provide the best possible service to other departments of the company and also to our customers and suppliers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
-Assisting the project manager and purchasing with the evaluation and awarding of sub contracts.
-Maintaining customer accounts/invoices during projects.
-Negotiation of contract variations with suppliers and sub contractors.
-Agreement of contract variations with the project manager.
-Negotiation of contract variations with the customer.
-Maintaining the projects working file.
-Producing daily work lists for the project team detailing variations to contract.
-Producing accurate regular (every other day) account updates for our customer.
-Ensuring that the projects targets are achieved.
-Preparing financial information by project for the weekly contract review meetings.
-Ensure timely payment requests are made to customers to maintain company cash flow.
-Controlling the overtime requirements of the project technical writer.
-Assisting with the estimating department when available.
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ)
-The Project Accountant is fully responsible for familiarising themselves with the site HSEQ documentation, systems and procedures relevant to their area(s) of responsibility and for ensuring that they are understood and applied to everyone within their respective area/s of responsibility.
-Shall ensure that only safe working practices are applied by persons within their area(s) of responsibility, with care for the environment and due consideration for quality requirements.
-Shall ensure, so far as is reasonable practicable, that all persons who come within their area(s) of responsibility receive adequate information, instruction or supervision necessary for them to prevent or avoid risks to their health and safety.
-Shall ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times throughout their area(s) of control.
-Shall ensure that work equipment, premises and protective clothing and equipment provided within their area(s) of control are used as required and maintained in an efficient state and in good working order and repair.
-Carry out HSEQ inspections as required.
-Be involved in any HSEQ investigations to establish root cause and implement corrective, preventive actions.
-Shall ensure that HSEQ problems which cannot be resolved immediately are raised quickly with their Line Manager.
