Dunbar Grammar School is a six-year comprehensive, non-denominational and co-educational school. It serves the town of Dunbar and surrounding area and is one of six secondary schools in East Lothian.

The present building was opened in 1961 and is situated in an attractive site in Dunbar. It has spacious playground areas and a games field with all-weather pitch within the school grounds. The school is fully equipped for disabled access. The school has been re-developed as part of East Lothian Council's Private and Public Partnership Scheme. A £10 million extension, including a state of the art Learning Resource Centre and social space has just been completed, offering outstanding facilities for staff and students. The current roll of the school is 894. Dunbar Grammar School benefits from an active and well established Parent Council who are supportive of the school and work collaboratively to ensure the school is an integral part of its community.

The current senior management structure consists of a Head Teacher, 2 Depute Head Teachers and a Business Manager.

The associated primary schools for Dunbar Grammar School are Dunbar Primary School, East Linton Primary School, Innerwick Primary School, West Barns Primary School and Stenton Primary School. There are strong links within the cluster with the schools working collaboratively together on developments to benefit children and young people across the whole learning community.

Job Details

The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of both Schools to the benefit of the pupils and the communities they serve, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Depute Chief Executive, Resources and People Services.

Relevant Qualifications
Full GTCS Registration is required.
