1 Year Fixed Contract for Engineering and Construction Services
About us:
The Port of Blyth is a modern Trust Port located on the east coast of the UK. The Port offers a first class handling, storage and distribution service for a variety of clients working across several sectors, with a turnover in excess of £20 million and handling over 2 million tonnes of cargo each year. We are currently undergoing a significant programme of redevelopment to improve the Port infrastructure and attract new business.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced construction professional to provide technical support to the engineering department within the Port of Blyth. You will be assisting the Port Projects Engineer focused on delivery of the capital works programme. Significant projects include reconstruction of existing quays and construction of new engineering workshops, offices and storage sheds.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
·Preparation and supervision of construction and engineering works with a focus on cost and programme control;
·Managing and supervising Contractors and Consultants;
·Liaising with Statutory Undertakers and third Parties;
·Issue Permits to Work to Contractors and Third Parties;
·Preparation of reports and documents;
·Carry out inspections and surveys;
Key Requirements:
·Experience of working in a site management role;
·Good record of cost control and programme management;
·Working knowledge of NEC contracts and the Construction and Design Management Regulations;
·Good communicator (written and verbal)
·Good team worker to contribute to a dynamic group;
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
·Degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering or Construction related subject;
·Minimum Five years’ experience working in engineering or construction;
·Full driving licence
Desirable:
·Experience of working in a Principal Contractor role;
·AutoCAD experience.

£32,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
We may consider someone self-employed with an equivalent remuneration package.
