The Project Manager (PM) Civils Programme Management Office (PMO) reports directly to the Senior Project Manager (SPM) PMO and is responsible for the timely delivery of all requisite outputs associated with assigned PMO functions and delegated packages of work and tasks.

The nature of the role is to provide leadership to ensure the effective delivery of key programme enabling and improvement activities, whilst recognising and managing the broader impact of proposed and delivered change. The DPM PMO operate in a manner that ensures the Civils Programme Director remains fully informed and their activities are align to the corporate strategic objectives. Key resources will need to be identified, requested and clear roles and responsibilities will need to be communicated. The PM PMO will be responsible for the management and delivery of their work on a week by week basis and managing the interfaces between their work scope and other related work activity, building the necessary relationships to ensure effective and informed engagement, and realisation of outputs that are coherent with and deliver benefit to, the Project’s strategic objectives.


* Civil/Construction Engineering degree or other related field with Chartered status.
* Good knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
* Experience of applying: APM body of knowledge, OGC's Prince 2, and/or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP).
* Experience and understanding of strategic level internal and external drivers associated with a large technically complex construction project, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment, and an appreciation of the overriding significance of safety, security and environmental factors.
* Success in managing / resolving programme (and project) management related issues in large complex programmes including those associated with Engineering Design, Construction Delivery, Change Management, Lifetime Quality Records, Governance, Reporting, and other PMO related functions.
* A solid understanding and experience of project management and construction delivery through the full project lifecycle.
* Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
* Strong management skills including project management, change management, project control, and proficiency in estimating, scheduling, and risk management.
* Understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.
* Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge complex situations and assess when to escalate issues.
* Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation and a pragmatic approach.
* Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.
* Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously.
* Determination and focus to drive projects through to implementation.
* Good influencing and persuasion skills with the ability to enthuse and inspire multidisciplinary teams and build successful relationships at all levels.
* BPSS or SC level security clearance (must be willing to go through clearance process if no clearance held at time of application, be capable of obtaining a full Security Clearance).
