It is our vision in East Lothian to provide the best education service in Scotland. We aim to achieve this by working in partnership with the public, voluntary and private sectors to build an East Lothian where everyone has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life which contributes to a fair and sustainable future. Knox Academy is at the forefront of this ambitious strategy and is at the centre of our vibrant learning community working towards raising attainment and achievement for all.

Knox Academy is a six-year comprehensive, non-denominational and co-educational school. It serves the town of Haddington and surrounding area and is one of six secondary schools in East Lothian. The current roll of the school is 761. It benefits from an active and well-established Parent Council who are supportive of the school and work collaboratively to ensure the school is an integral part of its community. The current senior management structure consists of a Head Teacher, 3 Depute Head Teachers within the school and 1 Depute Head Teacher at Meadowpark and a Business Manager. The associated primary schools are King's Meadow Primary School, Haddington Infant School, St Mary's RC Primary School and Yester Primary School in Gifford. Knox Academy has an extensive campus and had a major refurbishment in 2005. New features included a drama room, seminar rooms and a social area for the pupils. The school has extensive playing fields and sports facilities featuring a full-size games hall and gymnasium. The school benefits from a Tots n Teens facility, which runs 3 days per week and is open to children aged 2-5 years living within the Haddington area. This facility allows Knox Academy pupils to gain hands on real life work experience with young children.

Meadowpark, East Lothian's provision for young people of secondary school age with a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder, is part of the Knox Academy learning community. It opened in a refurbished former infant school building in August 2016, having been located within Knox Academy from August 2015. The provision currently has a roll of 13 young people with the capacity to grow to 30.

Education Scotland inspected Knox Academy in November 2016. This resulted in a recent further inspection where the noticeable progress made by the school to address the areas for improvement was recognised. We need an innovative and determined school leader to play an influential role to ensure that the school continues to make the required improvements and to ensure our young people achieve the best educational outcomes. To be successful you will utilise your highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills to inspire and motivate teachers and to continue to build secure and trusting partnerships across the Haddington Community and beyond.
