Job Description

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, fully qualified Officer; however, we will consider exceptional part qualified or trainee applicants to join our Career Grade Scheme (attached). The fully qualified applicant will carry out the full range of Trading Standards duties. Your priority will be to prevent and disrupt trading malpractice which causes the greatest detriment to consumers and legitimate businesses. You will take on complex and team based investigations. Other duties include civil enforcement work, consumer complaints and business advice. Part qualified and trainee applicants will carry out a restricted range of duties and carry less responsibility. The fully qualified applicant will have experience within a Trading Standards service and hold the statutory qualification. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with people at all levels. You will show initiative, creativity and tenacity in tackling identified problems. Part qualified and trainee applicants will meet the requirements of the attached job descriptions / personal specifications.

The Individual

Starting Salary: £19,604.00 - £33,364

£10.40 - £17.70 per hour

36.25 hours per week

This is a Career Grade Post - Grade 5 (£19,604.00) to Grade 9 (£33,364.50)

Interviews to be held on Wednesday 30 May 2018

Candidates will be asked to give a presentation to demonstrate communications and presentation skills. Candidates will be given the subject when invited for interview.
