The Company:

·A Leading Corrugated manufacturer with sites throughout the UK who are looking to recruit a Group Health & Safety & Compliance Manager to join their team.

Job Title:

·Group Health & Safety & Compliance Manager


·You will be required to travel regularly to the three company sites which are based in Somerset, Northampton and North Yorkshire.

·The successful candidate must also reside in one of these areas.

Purpose of Job:

·The Group Health & Safety & Compliance Manager will facilitate the strategic management of health, safety, quality, BRC and environmental policy, standards and direction. To ensure that all processes are established, implemented and maintained by all site compliance personnel. Acting as the focal point for the coaching and development of all site compliance personnel

Job Responsibilities:

·To ensure the health, safety and welfare of the staff, site visitors, site contractors and other people who could be affected by our activities.

·To ensure the company operates in compliance within the health and safety laws and legislation.

·To ensure that all sites work to a common standard of Quality Management allowing comparative reporting and a common standard of response to the customer.

·To act as a catalyst for change and improvement for all issues relating to quality.

·To review the quality management systems at regular planned intervals to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.

·To ensure that systems and processes are as streamlined and effective as possible to deliver a timely, relevant and effective response to the customer.

·To take companywide responsibility for BRC/ ISO standard changes and the adherence to these whilst liaising with external assessment bodies on all matters relating to the external accreditation process.

·To support and co-ordinate (where required) external audits and assessments.

·To ensure all compliance teams have received appropriate training for their job roles embracing best practice and new standards.

·To provide coaching and support for site compliance teams as may be required.

·To provide a monthly safety performance report to all sites using leading and lagging indicators.

·To keep the senior management team briefed on changes to compliance standards covering, health and safety laws and legislation, quality standards, BRC standards, environmental management standards, processes, procedures and performance statistics for all sites.

·To hold quarterly health and safety committee

·To hold quarterly quality meetings with the compliance teams

·To help coordinate and implement health, safety and compliance projects

·To update and maintain the Sedex system for companywide updates etc.

·The control and monitoring of FSC to ensure everything is being carried out in line with Group requirements and controls.

·Any additional requirements to keep the company as a market leader or moving forward in compliance.

Required Skills:

·A background in the packaging is essential

·Graduate calibre

·Demonstrate leadership and communication skills to be able to converse at all levels

·Extensive experience in managing and auditing the relevant standards including BRC, ISO 14001 and the company 6 steps for safety strategy

·NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety


·Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft office including, word, excel and PowerPoint.

·Full clean driving licence.

·Extensive experience in dealing with external auditors, external companies and governmental organisations.

·Strong people and communication skills to deal with potentially difficult auditors/ auditing requirements.

·Clear ability to develop effective health, safety, quality, BRC and environmental management systems.

·Skilled in focussed analysis of health, safety, quality, BRC and environmental management issues.

Salary circa £60,000 plus bonus, car, Healthcare, Pension and 25 days holiday
