Plymouth University is searching for a well organised and methodical Finance Manager, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to work within their finance department. The role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based in their friendly and vibrant Royal William Yard offices. This is a very unique and varied role, one which doesn’t come around often. The department you will be working in is currently supporting over 500 live projects, scaling from a value of £5,000 to five million pounds. You will not be required to manage deliverables within the projects but you will be in charge of financial aspects, such as ensuring that businesses fall in line with financial guidance as set by legislation and grant expectations. You will be responsible for managing a multitude of exciting, externally funded research projects, in particular The Next Steps South West (NSSW) project. You will support the National Collaborative Outreach Programme, which is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to encourage awareness of, and access to, Higher Education for identified individuals from target groups in schools where progression to HE is low. The RoleThe finance department is a central part of Plymouth University’s operations and is an exciting place to work. You will have the opportunity play an important role in making sure that the University runs smoothly and goes from strength-to-strength. You will be working within the Business Support Team and in particular the Post Award Research Team. Your duties will include: ·Managing a multitude of different projects to tight deadlines·Identifying issues and providing effective solutions in a timely manner·Supporting Deans, Directors and C-Level Executives with financial data ·You will research, interpret and manipulate data, using a variety of systems·Supporting management accounting processes, budget monitoring and analysis·Plan and administer complex meetings, conferences, committees and visits·Making decisions that will impact the Universities financial and operational objectives·Providing budgeting, forecasting and financial guidance in a clear and concise manner, generally to customers, stakeholders and partners who do not specialise in finance ·Supporting various departments within the University, helping them to meet compliance requirements and business targets ·Ensuring adherence to appropriate regulations, including documentation and developing auditable recordsAs an overview, you will contribute towards the continuous improvement of the Business Support service and the Finance Department in meeting the needs of the University.Requirements
·You must have excellent numeracy and literacy skills·You will possess an analytical and inquiring approach in your role·You will have knowledge of the financial management of projects·You will be self-motivated, with good problem-solving and diagnostic skills·You will have good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages·You will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure, to tight time scales·You will have knowledge and experience of budgets, costing and finance systems and an ability to analyse financial and other data·You will have excellent communication and customer service skills, with an ability to work independently as well as in a team·You will have educational attainment at Further Education level and an accounting qualification, AAT or equivalent experienceThe Universities employees share a determination to push boundaries, think differently and achieve more.
