£16,000 per annum

We are looking for an Undergraduate Web Developer to undertake a year-long Placement – starting in July 2018 - as a Web Technician at our Head Office on Milton Park in Abingdon. The role would be based within our Business Information Unit and a brief overview of the duties and responsibilities is as follows:-

• Supporting the Web Developer primarily on RPS web management and design projects, designing and producing new web pages for the RPS Intranet and the various RPS websites. All commissions will be screened by the Business Information Manager for prioritisation and content clearance purposes.
• Supporting the Web Developer for the design of database driven interactive web communications systems on behalf of the Group.
• Supporting the Web Developer in maintaining and updating all existing websites and intranet resources.
• Respond to user comments and problem feedback with sites by investigating further and resolving the problem if it is the website or hosting that is found to be at fault.
• Supporting the Web Developer in providing web development support, as required, across the Group's corporate, divisional and office led web presentational activities. This will require the maintenance of a record of web developments and web content in hard copy form. This can be used to verify, trace or retrieve old content as required.
• Play a full part in the work of the Business Information Unit, ensuring that other members of the team receive support, as required. This will require them, on occasions, to answer the phone and respond to emails of a general nature.
• The Web Technician will report to the Web Developer on day to day web related projects and to the Business Information Manager on personnel and all other matters.

The hours are normally 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, usually 9am to 5pm (including a half hour lunch break). You may be expected to work different hours on particular occasions depending on what projects you are working on and how time critical they may be.

Please note that this vacancy is only available to undergraduate students of computing and web development taking part in a supervised university industrial placement year.

The placement carries a salary of £16,000 per year together with the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with one of the UK’s leading multi-disciplinary consultancies.
