We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Financial Controller to work at our client’s premises in Welwyn Garden City. Reporting directly to the Finance Director the successful candidate will provide a management information service to the directors and managers and to assist in the recording, preparation and monitoring of the financial accounts

As the Financial Controller your duties will include:

• To prepare and analyse information for reporting on contract accounts including profitability, reconciliation, variance
• Conduct month end processes (prepayments, journals, accruals, WIP analysis, Bank rec, AP and AR ledger review etc)
• Conduct monthly Finance review meetings with the Senior Management Team and Finance Director
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Report project spend and debt collection to the business.
• Issue timely and complete financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of the annual audit and financial accounts
• Maintain and report against budget and forecasts
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
• Respond to all legal and government requests for Financial data
• File corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE returns
• Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements were needed
• Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
• Process payroll journals and expenses in a timely manner

Qualifications / Experience

• Qualified Accountant with at least 3 years PQE
• Previous experience in a deadline driven accounts environment.
• Confident decision maker
• Ability to drive effective and efficient financial processes and procedures
• Previous experience within a Construction / Facilities Management would be advantageous
• Excellent IT skills
