A well known Defence Contractor requires a Systems Administrator to join their team in Yeovil on an initial 6 month contract basis.

This role will pay £43.00 per hour Ltd / Umbrella or £32.99 p/h PAYE.

Clearance Requirements

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material. Therefore we can only consider British Nationals for this role and cannot consider those who hold a Dual Nationality. Role Summary/Purpose of Job

Air Programmes are part of Defence Information & Training Services (DITS) we supply and support software products and IT services to internal and external customers. The Service Management (SM) team are responsible for supporting IT services and infrastructure used by customers in the air, land and sea sectors. The SM team has a vacancy to provide a Senior Systems Administrator to support key project/customer facing infrastructure/services within DI and the wider Air Sector.

The role will involve day to day management and monitoring of services and their supporting infrastructure components. The bespoke individual IT systems are managed using an ITIL Framework and you will be responsible for the investigation of arising issues, resolved against the defined Service Level Agreements.

Key Tasks

Linux Build, Management and Configuration

Responsible for defining, configuring, building and managing linux infrastructure components. A focus on monitoring, management and securing of new and existing platforms. Collaborating with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly.

IT Security Analysis

Responsible for planning, reviewing and implementing infrastucture security measures and protective monitoring system to protect operating systems, networks and infrastructure components. Stay up-to-date on the latest intelligence, policy, process and governance and provide recommendation on security patching across the estate. Maintain key contacts within the organisation relating to IT Security for information sharing and security collaboration across the organisation. Responsible for log analysis with a forensic security and troubleshooting focus. Knowledge of security components, including firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IDP devices and their configuration and implementation. Knowledge around penetration testing and ethical hacking processes would be beneficial.

Capacity and Availability Management System

Full review of existing CAM system leading to identification of replacement solution supporting service availability, security and technical monitoring needs within the organisation. Design, plan and implement transition to full replacement system alongside implementation of protective monitoring solution. Ongoing support, development and maintenance of system and documentation following internal governance and procedures.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate:

Plans, schedules and monitors own work (and that of others where applicable) competently within limited deadlines and according to relevant legislation and procedures. Absorbs and applies technical information and works to required standards. Appreciates the wider field of information systems, and how own role relates to other roles and to the business of the employer or client. Probably educated to bachelor degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification.
