A Health & Safety Advisor is needed for a globally known, market leading manufacturing business in Barnsley. Our client is a dynamic and innovative manufacturer that services a highly successful industry. With over 80 employees and a >£10M turnover, this is a superb opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to add a true market leader in their industry to their resume.

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor will champion HSE culture, and contribute towards improving safe work practices and manufacturing efficiencies by utilising continuous improvement techniques

This is a critical role in the business and due to growth, our client is looking to find a determined and committed individual who will help mould and drive a successful HSEQ department.

Responsibilities include:

- Responsibility for leading Health and Safety and Continuous Improvement of Health and safety and Environmental projects.
- Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Produce safe systems of work covering all key areas and operational practices
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation and company policies.
- Advise management on all legislative requuirements and ongoing changes
- Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Administrating and following up with relevant department’s investigations and preventative actions resulted from accidents and incidents on site.
- Trains, coaches and motivates peers and all employees in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques.
- Conduct training pertaining to Health, Safety, and Environmental best practice.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience of a Health & Safety specialist in a manufacturing environment
- ISO 18001 Experience (Auditor Preferred)
- NEBOSH Qualified
- Proven experience in driving changes and improvements
- Excellent social skills, empowering those around you
- Positive, friendly, driven attitude with an outgoing personality
- Able to communicate well with both shop floor and senior stakeholders alike
