Principal / Associate Town Planner - Newcastle

£40,000 - £55,000 + car allowance and excellent benefits package

Penguin Recruitment are delighted to be working with an award winning multi-disciplinary consultancy who are currently recruiting for a dynamic Principal / Associate Town Planner to join the Built Environment team in Newcastle.

In recent years this consultancy made a highly successful key strategic appointment to develop its Built Environment sector Planning capabilities throughout Europe. In its continuing development of this sector, our client is now looking to make further high-level appointments of Planning professionals with expertise within the Built Environment sector to work closely with the sector lead to continue the commercial and technical growth of this area of business within its Newcastle office.

The successful Principal / Associate Planner will work within the Built Environment planning team which has strong links with the masterplanning and ESIA teams and will be expected to contribute to a broad range of development projects, in the Built Environment sector.

Reporting directly to Head of Built Environment Planning, the opportunity will exist to take on a project management role and gain a wide area of planning and environmental assessment experience. This position will include regular contact with clients and regulatory authorities as well as collaboration with the company’s colleagues. Therefore the successful candidate will need a good working knowledge of all local planning legislations and a strong background in the delivery of projects. Equally, a strong track record of project management would be an advantage as the company’s structure lends itself to the delivery of an integrated offer to clients.

The successful Principal / Associate Planner must have at least 4 years’ Planning experience, be a member of the RTPI and will have a relevant RTPI accredited degree and/or Masters. Good communication and administrative skills are vital along with an appetite for new challenges on a broad case load. Above all, a desire to play a key role in the continued development of the Built Environment sector is essential.
