Shorterm require 5 x Service Technicians on a permanent basis.

JOB TITLE: 5 x Service Technician (Dual Skilled Technician)
JOB LOCATION: East London
SALARY: £Competitive + BUPA + PENSION
HOURS PER WEEK: 42 Hours AVERAGE per week
SHIFT PATTERN: 7 on, 4 off
7 on, 5 off
SHIFTS: 24/7 Operation therefore you MUST be flexible (Days, Nights, Weekends)
START DATE: MAY 2018
Duration: Permanent
ROLLING STOCK: Class 387 & 357 fleet of Electrostar Trains.

Industries considered: RAF, REME, British Army, Royal Navy, Marine Engineering, Electrical Avionics Technician, Rolling Stock, Commercial/Industrial Electrics, Defence, Plant Engineering, SPM, HVAC, and Process Engineering
HGV Mechanics / PSV Technicians/ SENIOR MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNICIANS

Disciplines considered: Mechanical Engineer OR Electrical Engineer, Avionic Technician, Aircraft Electrician, Electrical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter,

Summary

You will be responsible for carrying out train preparation, maintenance examination, component exchanges and repairs to our fleet of E.M.U.s in accordance with the maintenance plan and manuals.

Fault Finding, attending units in service operation (Track calls).

Recording in a timely manner necessary information (i.e. service records) either on paper or directly in to the Maintenance Management System.

The Service Technician will work on a shift basis to support 24 hours, 7 days a week operation and may be required to work alone, including Station Service Support, as an effective team member.

Job Overview

To undertake all types of Mechanical & Electrical maintenance work, repair and fault finding on Rolling Stock to ensure that we provide our customer with a reliable, safe and defect free train.

The Service Technician will be responsible for ensuring that any maintenance they have undertaken at the depot is done so in accordance with the companies’ safety regulations. Any maintenance undertaken by the Service Technician should not infringe on the customers timetable unless the safety of the set is compromised.

The position of Service Technician is a key Safety Critical position and is a requirement against the Service Agreement (SA). This position is the key focal point for the safe and reliable running of the fleet.

Job Duties could include the following:

The role is carrying out routine maintenance on rolling stock carriages with a focus on mechanical routine maintenance but with an appreciation of electrical systems. This COULD include:

• Brake checks
• Door systems checks
• Checking Oil levels / Oil Change
• Checking Water levels
• Gearbox examination, repair and analysis
• Using a Laptop to run a diagnostics check/ identify Fault/ Fluke Meter Tests
• Carry out basic electrical fault finding using a Fluke Meter
• Carry out basic electrical Testing and fault rectification
• Carry out basic Heating & Ventilation modifications
• Carry out basic seating modifications
• Carry out basic grab rail modifications
• Changing relay boxes
• Driver seats / Wiper motors/ Couplers/ Actuators

KEY EXPERIENCE:

Use Laptop to diagnose faults
Follow maintenance manual – Vehicle Maintenance Instruction (VMI)
Use diagnostics tools
Convert A/C to D/C
Troubleshooting and evidence gathering / PLC troubleshooting /Strong IT Skills

Advise of any defects/deficiencies in equipment/arrangements that could compromise the Health and Safety of themselves and others

The Service Technician will be responsible for working to Companies Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI's).

Person profile:

You will be a highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative and work in a team. You will possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills. You will need extensive all-round knowledge of modern rolling stock systems, experience of depot operations and fault finding techniques.

Identify possible improvements and feedback into Engineering.

KEY KNOWLEDGE:

Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Pneumatics / Hydraulics / Compressors / Pneumatic Actuators

Candidates from the following industries will be considered:

Aerospace / Aircraft Maintenance – Routine Maintenance on Aircraft
Defence – Routine Maintenance on Submarines / Ships
EX Forces Electrical Engineer – Routine Maintenance on Aircraft/ helicopters/ HGV
Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Routine Maintenance on Production line machinery
Electrical Maintenance Technician – Routine Maintenance on Production line machinery
Electrical Infrastructure Technician – Routine Maintenance on Rail Depot / Rail Station

Qualifications:

A must is a formal electrical or mechanical engineering qualification i.e. apprenticeship
Educated to high standard in an electrical OR mechanical engineering discipline

Health and Safety competencies required: Manual Handling, COSHH, Personal Track Safety (can be provided if not trained).
Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act
Excellent understanding of English language (written and verbal).

Will be qualified through an apprenticeship programme to NVQ level 3 or above or equivalent demonstrable experience in mechanical / electrical / electronic engineering

Previous experience in a similar role within the rail industry.

Experience of Electrostar units or other modern EMU’s an advantage.
