We are looking for an Electronics and Control Systems Engineer to join the Hardware Team of a Company based in North Hertfordshire. Responsibilities* Design, development and commissioning of machine control solutions - including PCBs and embedded software* Provision of technologies to interface between hardware and software elements of products* Provision of support and training for newly developed machine control systems* Applying standard methodologies across the spectrum of machine control engineering activity* Pro-active contribution to a systems engineering approach on new product development projects Effective communication of interfaces and agreed protocols with other development project team members * Lead of and/or contribution to design reviews with peers and other groups as required* Provision of information to enable the development and maintenance of accurate project plans by the Project Manager* Attendance at team meetingsRequirements* Excellent degree (2:1 or above), ideally in Electronic and/or Software Engineering* Chartered Engineer preferred but not essential* Embedded software for machine control and automation purposes.* Electrical motor control, including steppers, DC and brushless DC Servos.* Experience of Electrical/Electronic communication protocols and hardware including RS232, RS422, RS485 and USB* Low speed digital electronics design* Analogue electronics design including small signal handling and processing for MCUs* Demonstrable experience of PCB layout* Development of equipment for the automated testing of PCBs and electronic sub-systems.* Professional and Technical expertise* Oral and Written communication skills* Embedded C / C++* Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics design* Good planning skills* Team-based styleThe following would be advantageous: * Experience of various communication protocols used over Ethernet.* Experience of the design of electronic circuits and enclosures to meet EMC regulations* Participation in integrated engineering teams, including the specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of high value, automated capital equipment* Experience in high technology and/or life science industry* Electro-mechanical systems engineering* Electrical motor control of AC Servo systems* Safety related software and hardware* Knowledge of STM32 ARM Cortex MCUs* Keil development environment* Development of embedded software using both RTOS and Super Loop architectures.* Altium Designer* PCB design* C# Programming for Windows Applications* Commercial awareness * Ability to take leadership of project related machine control activities
