We are currently recruiting for one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK with a long standing history dating back almost 900 years. The technology arm to the business provides a broad range of IT services to the trust covering desktop, email, clinical/administrative systems, network, mobility, telephony and IT training with an aim of making digital healthcare a reality.

Role Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a Network and Security Consultant to join a highly motivated team. This job will hold responsibility for managing and maintaining the network and security infrastructure services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to nearly 14,500 people plus a potential further 10,000+ users of our services off site. The position holder will be the trust expert across the N&S infrastructure services and be expected to keep calm under pressure, focused and deliver to a high standard. The post will cover installations of new equipment, capacity planning, documentation, monitoring, mentoring, highly complex troubleshooting and problem solving as well as design work and supporting laymen to decide on best solutions for their problems.

Further responsibilities include supporting the business to deliver all requests and projects, identify and resolve all issues whether they are raised by the business through service desk request or they have been identified by Network Management support tools or through analysis of trends.

Successful applicants will have:

• CCNP qualified (or equivalent)
• Checkpoint certified
• Significant experience working in a large organisation as a Senior Network and /or Security Engineer / Wireless Engineer
• ITIL Foundation or working knowledge
• Proven experience of working within a 24*7 environment as part of an on call team
• In depth and proven specialist knowledge and technical skills / certification in the following areas:

- Cisco 6500,3700,3500 series switches
- Cisco 2900,1900,800 series routers
- Checkpoint
- Cisco Works
- LES Circuits
- Cisco WCS / NCS
- Web and Internet Filtering
- Network Monitoring system
