Cisco Network Infrastructure, CCNA, CCNP, LAN, WAN, Network Engineer, ITIL, Derbyshire My client have created an excellent opportunity for a Network Infrastructure Lead to join them on a permanent basis based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Reporting to the Network Manager, the successful candidate will take the lead on day-to-day management and strategic development of the business network and provide senior network support and supervision to other members of the team. Role Responsibilities: Reporting to and working with the Network & Telephony Manager, take the lead on day-to-day management and development of the network infrastructure, WAN and LAN (including WiFi). Providing senior network support and supervision to other members of the team for incident management and project lifecycle tasks. Developing new internal processes and procedures as required and reviewing existing processes and procedures for accuracy; consistency and relevance. Reviewing, on a daily basis, the current allocated network-related work load for the team and ensuring that all planned work is moving forwards in a controlled and efficient manner. Escalating, in advance, to the Network & Telephony Manager any likely breaches of agreed deadlines. Working with customer IT leads; nominated project leads; 3rd parties and other stakeholders to discuss technical service issues and agree plans and deadlines. Occasionally working as a lead on such matters on behalf of the wider Technical Operations Team before discussing and allocating tasks related to such issues with the other teams. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on network technologies & features as well as potential integration and added value with other services. Using this knowledge to facilitate or unblock delays in progress of issue resolution & project development as well as defining road-maps and upgrade paths for these services. Ensuring on a daily basis that suitably skilled team members are allocated to appropriate work streams and tasks and that proper paths for supervision have been identified and implemented. Dealing, as required, with any staff performance and disciplinary issues. Reviewing, in part, the work of others, ensure that project plans; quotes and resource plans are in place for all work streams to maintain predictable work package and project deadlines and budget compliance. Working with others, take responsibility for the capacity & availability management of the network. Develop with others; robust capacity & performance reporting techniques and escalate any appropriate breaches of agreed thresholds to the Network & Telephony Manager according to such procedures. Occasionally deputising for the Network & Telephony Manager during periods of absence or standing in at certain planned meetings. Key Experience & Skills Required: Demonstrable; in-depth technical expertise within an ICT environment consisting of extensive hands-on support and management of Cisco wired and wireless networks. Design; configuration and deployment experience of Cisco wired and wireless networks. Support and design experience of a 3rd party managed network (e.g. N3). Experience of working with such a provider. Practical experience in project management. Ability to identify and evaluate problems based on a broad knowledge of technical experience Ability to analyse data, observe trends and formulate conclusions. Educated to degree level in an ICT discipline or equivalent experience Working knowledge of Prince 2 project methodology Working knowledge of ITIL CCNA Collaboration certification or demonstrable skills and experience CCNA Routing & Switching certification or demonstrable skills and experience What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
