The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 52,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-looking manager interested in the work of developing local engagement and operational management of business and priorities for the local Faculties in the North West region. Developing and strengthening local and regional innovation and delivery opportunities will be key elements of this role. The successful applicant will have business acuity alongside strong people-management skills and motivation. You will also have the drive to deliver both the day to day work of the Faculties and contribute proactively, strategically and collaboratively as part of the Regional Engagement Manager team; developing the future direction of Faculties in your area, in response to organisational plans and priorities. A flexible approach to working hours is necessary as there are evening meetings in various locations within London and South area and the possibility of occasional overnight stays elsewhere across College locations in England.

You should be a robust and innovative manager, with a strong track record of experience in complex staff and HR management, projects, events and engagement, as well as financial management. As well as being a self-starter and an excellent communicator, you should have the ability to work with, and motivate staff and volunteers from a distance. Experience of previous working within a membership-based organisation is desirable as is an understanding of primary care and the current health landscape.

A full driving licence and access to a car is essential in order to be able to attend meetings within the region and nationally, some of which will be held in the evening. A flexi-time scheme is in operation.
