Supplier Development Manager role

Your new organisation are a leading manufacturing business specialising in precision engineering. The business are 60 years old and have incredible capabilities to manufacture their own goods/materials, inclusive of tooling.

Your new role will mentor one existing buyer who manages the day-to-day purchasing of raw materials, materials and goods.

The main focus of your role will be on strategic supplier development with a real need to resolve existing frailties with current suppliers and source new fit-for-purpose suppliers.

In your role you will quickly identify and put in place a strategic plan to resolve the immediate and most urgent issues regarding your suppliers.

From here you will look to develop a supply chain to your own blue print by setting short term, medium term and long strategic goals.

Your role will involve travel to meet and resolve (if possible) issues with your current suppliers and to meet new suppliers. Some of this travel will be international.

Your new job will overhaul your supplier base to put in place a supply chain that works well for the business. This will involve breaking down and re-building existing supplier relationships. It will involve introducing new suppliers and where necessary exiting suppliers from your supply chain.

To be successful in this job you will have strong capabilities of developing supplier relationships, both by sourcing and introducing new suppliers to a business but also in turning around failing suppliers so they become successful.

You will demonstrate the experience needed to have a long-term approach to implement and put into place a highly effective portfolio of suppliers.

You will have experience of managing supplier KPI's and SLA's and will have a natural wish to be supplier facing. This role will not suit an individual who wants to be 100% office bound.

The successful individual will be open to travel on a local and when necessary international basis.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong manufacturing / engineering background with the ability to read and interpret BoM's, technical and engineering drawings.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong desire to create a supply chain and supplier portfolio to your own design
