Due to growth, they are now seeking an engineer to join their established Civil Engineering Design team based in their Oxford office.
Your new role
You will be providing a pro-active supporting function, reporting directly to a Senior Engineer within the consultancy and you will be expected to take responsibility for the management of the design process on a wide range of infrastructure projects for both public and private sector clients. You will have the opportunity to run your own projects. Your role as Engineer will sit between the senior staff and the technician and CAD operator positions and you will be expected to delegate to and manage to activities and outputs of more junior team members. You'll be supporting the production of multi-disciplinary highway designs and provision for all types and scales of infrastructure and development projects. You will be ensuring that all design activities are undertaken in compliance with CDM Regulations and delegate and manage the CAD resource in the delivery of outputs to agreed deadlines. You will also be required to liaise with client and design teams on active projects and manage and procure deliverables on time. The delivery of projects on time and within budget is crucial along with ensuring that colleagues and line managers are kept informed of progress. You will need to prepare and manage technical reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates and other documents in accordance with current industry standards.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be suitably experienced and working towards incorporated or chartered engineer status with a relevant professional institution, or be prepared to commit to achieving a relevant professional qualification. You will be provided with support and development within a multi-disciplinary technical environment. You will need to have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering. You should have, or be prepared to obtain a CSCS card and have experience of S38, S278 and S104 designs. You will need a broad experience of multi-disciplinary highway design and specification ideally gained within a civil engineering consultancy. You'll be experienced in the delegation and management of technician and CAD resources and will have excellent communication and written skills with the ability to both compile and check reports as well as prioritising to achieve project and client deadlines.
