Specialist Audiologist - Audiology
You will have responsibility for specialist audiological assessment, rehabilitation of patients, and development, implementation and evaluation programmes of care to ensure delivery of high quality care for patients. You will provide support to the Head of Audiology to achieve service objectives, waiting time's targets and implement work programmes. Responsible for service development and improvements to maintain best practice and high standards of care. The role of the Specialist Practitioner is to carry out without supervision all basic procedures within the service. Staff will be expected to take medical histories patients with for more complex symptoms such as tinnitus and vertigo and carry out test procedures and to refer on for other investigations such as MRI before presenting the case to ENT where appropriate. Supervision and training of more junior roles will be expected at this level along with observing / assisting more senior staff to gain knowledge and training in more complex procedures. Deputising for the Team Leader or more senior staff may be expected at this level. It is essential that you are state registered with RCCP (Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists) and that you have a BSc in Audiology equivalent (e.g. BAAT part I and II professional and competency examinations) You should have Significant post qualification experience in an audiology service and able to demonstrate up to date knowledge in audiology practice, assessment techniques, hearing aid provision and rehabilitation of patients. The shift pattern for this post is worked over 4 days. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG Scheme.
