Financial Controller required for a permanent role with a construction related business just south of Durham City. This is a brilliant opportunity to join an established, very stable company and really become an integral part of the management team.

Reporting to the Directors, you will oversee the work of two Accounts Assistants, ensuring accurate completion of their tasks (sales & purchase ledger and payroll), and also have personal responsibility for the following:
Registration, distribution and chasing up of any missing invoices, logging any queries and placing invoices on hold;
Checking statements against Sage accounts and investigating discrepancies;
Dealing with calls relating to payments, preparing and updating supplier payments and ensuring the new supplier details are accurately registered;
Receiving payment certificates and updating the applications register, scanning them and raising an invoice to match;
Coordinating the debtors ledger, chasing overdue invoices;
Coordinating and chasing of overdue retentions;
Updating the applications register with sent applications;
Ensuring that all documentation is accurate and where relevant filed for bank statements, petty cash and credit cards - keeping all of this updated in Sage;
Matching fuel receipts to invoices, entering onto Sage;
Take meter readings and reconcile invoices;
Ensuring sub-contractor insurances are in place;
Processing CIS returns, PAYE submissions and VAT returns;
Processing weekly subcontractor wages and payments and monthly salaries;
Preparing monthly management accounts;
Updating cash flows with payment information and new projects;
Updating forecasts with relevant information;
Preparing WIP schedule and update forecasts;
Updating costs in CVRs;
Inter-company recharges and reconciliations;
Enter budgets from tenders;
Review projects and prepare CVR information;
Applications are welcome from candidates able to demonstrate recent working knowledge of the above duties - either qualified/part qualified or qualified by experience.
£25,000 to £30,000 per annum.
