As an Independent Prescriber, you will be an experienced prescriber within the alcohol and drug field who is expected to act within your professional boundaries and competencies. You will provide care and treatment for patients requiring prescribed medication following an initial medical assessment leading to a diagnosis of problem alcohol and / or drug use. It is expected that you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to manage the effective delivery of safe and evidence based prescribing practice.

This post is open to both nurse and pharmacist Independent Prescribers Nurses: You will be educated to Degree level 9 with completion of training as a Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience as a Band 6 registered nurse. You will have significant experience actively practicing as a non medical prescriber and have evidence of Nurse Prescriber qualification (V200 or V300). Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is essential.

Pharmacists: You will have a Masters level qualification or equivalent with substantial post registration experience. You will have significant experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner with evidence of Pharmacist Independent Prescriber qualification. Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is essential.
The hours are worked Monday to Friday.
