A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a key role in a small, friendly and busy farm management team in Kent.

The main focus of the Irrigation / Assistant Farm Manager will be irrigation management for the salad onion crops but depending on experience this role also offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of a key farm management functions and career progression through the business.

Main responsibilities of the Irrigation / Assistant Farm Manager include:

- Leading Health & Safety and developing the strong H&S culture across the business.

- Managing the welfare, training, and discipline of staff involved in the irrigation team.

- Working closely with the rest of the farms team to ensure the entire business is integrated.

- Responsibility over the planning and delivery of irrigation operations to deliver an efficient irrigation service.

- Meeting the labour growing budget and ensuring through planned preventative maintenance that repair costs are controlled.

- Managing all plant, infra structure and equipment including pump houses and booms.

- Be responsible for all estate maintenance.

- Manage environment agency licence details and abstraction figures along with reservoir fill.

- Provide a crop husbandry element of support for the crop manager of irrigation requirements.

- Pursue innovation opportunities for the entire farm.

- Assist in farm management meetings and H&S committee meetings.

- Develop good working relationships with all landlords.

Skills, knowledge and experience required by the Irrigation / Assistant Farm Manager:

- Experience with tractors and machinery -essential.

- Previous irrigation experience is an advantage.

- Strong communication skills.

- Flexible and reliable, open to change and possess a can do attitude.

- Attention to detail.

- Willingness to learn.

- Lean thinker, seeks continuous improvement.

- Can do attitude to all tasks; Open-minded, open to change and challenge.

- Proficient in IT and Microsoft Excel and Word.
