Buying Project Manager (6 month contract)

An exciting time to join this organisation, based in Welwyn Garden City, as they are enjoying rapid growth across the business.

They are now looking to recruit a Buying Project Manager for a fixed-term contract to work with new and existing suppliers to source new product ranges that enhance and strength their current offer.

Reporting to the Buying Manager, the role will be to work with key internal stakeholders and suppliers to select and negotiate a compelling range of products to complement our existing proposition.

Roles and responsibilities:

Work with the team to understand the existing range, supplier base and range gaps

Analyse the competition and look for the opportunities to expand our existing range

Work with the Web Trading and Marketing teams to better understand our existing/potential customer base and what they are looking for online, to help drive decisions based on market insight

Meet with prospective suppliers to select ranges

Deliver best in class by creating a compelling customer offer through effective cost negotiation, range selection and management, supplier management and promotional plan for the initial year

Ensuring that the range launches on time, with suitable supplier investment and in line with business KPI’s

Develop a rigorous Trading plan for year one for the specific range in collaboration with the Marketing and Web Trading Functions and ensure this is communicated to the wider team in a timely manner

Skills and experience:

Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2:1 (preferable)

Strong commercial understanding and the ability to focus on delivery of this project

Strong interpersonal skills; the Buying Project Manager will need to work closely with a number of internal and external stakeholders.

A strong record of effective supplier negotiation

Proven experience within an eCommerce role (preferred)

Experience building propositions and successfully delivering them

Self-motivated and confident decision maker who is able to work independently and make decisions

Have ambition and a real passion for all things customer-centric

Flexibility to travel offsite to external meetings, as required

PC Literate - at least intermediate level MS Office
