To contribute to the pleasant environment of the Home with a particular remit for involving the residents in a variety of activities designed to address a wide range of interests and varied limitations on physical and mental agility.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACTIVITIEIS COORDINATOR
Organise varied activities within the Home to cater for a variety of interests for small groups and large numbers of residents, including games, crafts, parties, entertainment and outings, encouraging relatives and visitors to be involved.

  1. Arrange trips and excursions with varied destinations and purposes to involve as many residents in activity outside the confines of the Home as possible.
  2. Undertake fundraising activity for the Residents’ Fund.
  3. Participate as an active member of the Residents’ Committee for Activities.
  4. Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work legislation, fire and safety and evacuation procedures and be aware of the need to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents, particularly with regard to external activities.
  5. Act accordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.
  6. Contribute fully to team working, and be aware of the care-staff routines necessary to provide continuity of service to residents.
  7. Ensure supplies and equipment are stored in a safe and tidy manner.

Knowledge & Qualifications

Demonstrate understanding of the role social interaction plays in the general well-being of people.

Previous involvement in voluntary or community activities and roles.

Knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, and COSHH assessments.

Hold or work towards achieving NVQ Level 2 in Support Services in Healthcare.
