Why are we hiring?

The Group is growing fast and expanding into new areas. At the same time, demands on the tax function from external stakeholders and from the business are increasing. The Group recognises the importance of tax to achieving its overall ambitions and are backing this new position.

The Team

We are a small, friendly and hardworking team of 2 (but 3 with you) who ensure the Group pays the right amount of tax and complies with all relevant legislation, compliance and reporting obligations, while also creating sustainable value for the benefit of the shareholders. We operate in an open and transparent manner with tax authorities in all our host jurisdictions. We have many points of contact around the group - sooner or later nearly everyone has a question about tax - but on a day 2 day basis you'll be working with the Tax team, FD, CFO & the wider Group Finance team.

This role provides a phenomenal opportunity to gain an understanding of how the business works from a legal, economic and commercial perspective, and a chance to contribute to Group strategic planning. Working in our small, friendly and focused team, this is a chance for you to gain a 'big-picture' insight that few other roles offer.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will be responsible for a wide portfolio of tax compliance and advisory matters.

  • You'll manage UK corporate tax process for subsidiaries (production of provisions and returns).

  • Manage transfer pricing compliance for Group and subsidiaries.

  • Get involved in indirect tax compliance and advisory work (principally VAT and IPT).

  • You'll deliver tax analysis and advice for projects such as Brexit, M&A, restructuring, etc.

  • Act as a business partner for the operating units of the Group.

  • Contribute to Group strategic planning and tax risk management.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Ideally 3 yrs+ working in Tax, preferably with some experience of Insurance / Financial Services.

  • Professional tax or accountancy qualification (equivalent to ACA/CTA).

  • Good communication skills and written style.

  • Common sense & a sense of humour
