Your new company are a transport & engineering consultancy that supply transport and infrastructure engineering planning services to the land development industry and some public sector clients. They provide technical support for planning and related applications covering transportation, highways, drainage and flood risk, and ancillary issues. Our current workload includes Cornwall's Garden Village proposals, Dyson's Hullavington Campus site, two major Hospital sites as well as other commercial, residential and waste & energy sites. They now require an enthusiastic Infrastructure Engineer at a senior level to join their Bath Office.
Your new role
Your new role will give you the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects. Initially your work will include supporting the Consultant Engineering Director and the Transport Director on all aspects of the planning and infrastructure projects that the company is involved in. However, within a relatively short period of time, and subject to successful performance, it is intended that the appointed candidate will lead on the engineering side of the business. With this there will be the opportunity to become a partner in the business.
In the role, you will be responsible for the delivery of infrastructure, including highways and drainage design from initial feasibility stage, to preliminary and detailed design. Responsibilities will include liaison with clients, architects, contractors and regulatory authorities. Overseeing and delivery of detailed designs for drainage and highway schemes for Technical Approval (section 38, 104, 106, 185 and 278) as well as preparing documents for planning applications, such as Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies will be a requirement of the role, as well as managing internal resources and project financial matters.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a relevant qualification (degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or an equivalent discipline, and preferably have Chartered Status. You should have experience in infrastructure engineering design, and be familiar with the development planning system in the UK. You should also have excellent written English language and report writing skills.
A strong consultancy, developer or public authority background and experience is likely to have been gained by and you will have ambition, a work ethic and a sense of commitment to quality and client service. A working knowledge of standard industry software will be advantageous, especially AutoCAD, WINDES and Civils 3D. Experience in the use of the Microdrainage suite and an understanding of SuDS will also be an advantage.
You will be expected to have ambitions to help to build the business and have sound commercial acumen to ensure that the business can continue to flourish. Therefore, either a track record of business development or a clear willingness and aptitude to seek out new project opportunities is desirable.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary of £45,000 with the opportunity to become a partner in the business quickly. Your working week will be 37.5 hours and flexible working arrangements are offered including working from home for two or three days per week with a mobile and laptop provided. Also included is 24 days annual leave and a contributory pension scheme.
