Lead Process Engineer - Mechanical Bias
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our passionate and knowledgeable Gypsum Manufacturing Technology team as a Lead Process Engineer. This international role will see you design, procure, install and commission gypsum and other powder handling systems at our new and existing plasterboard manufacturing facilities worldwide.
The Gypsum Manufacturing Technology team, based at our Technical Centre in Leicestershire, are responsible for the professional delivery of new projects and major rebuilds, operational and acquisition support and as the design authority, ensure continuous improvement of plant designs. The specific Process Area Team for this role is responsible for the heart of the plasterboard manufacturing process where gypsum and additives are accurately combined and precisely formed into a continuous paper-lined sheet.
What will you be doing in the role?
In the role as Lead Process Engineer you will:
Lead the design development of powder handling processes to deliver best performance at lowest cost, giving due regard to safety, operability, maintainability and legal compliance.
Undertake feasibility studies, scope and develop concept designs and plant layouts, develop specifications and budget estimates for new capital projects.
Develop technical specifications for equipment tendering, negotiate and make recommendations on selection of suppliers and specialist contractors.
Undertake progress visits and equipment acceptance at vendor locations, often in Eastern Europe or Asia.
Supervise safe installation and support equipment commissioning including training of Operations team on sites worldwide.
Be involved in extensive international travel with extended periods away.

For the Lead Process Engineer specifically it is important that you have:
Mechanical Engineering Degree, preferably at Masters level.
Broad Experience Process Equipment Design.
Comprehensive understanding of bulk powder handling and hazardous materials handling (ATEX).
Experience in design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of equipment for powders handling.
Experience working with LCC equipment suppliers.
Good command of specific design software (AutoCAD, 3D design, etc).
