Hospital Co-ordinator (Discharging)

Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, our client is a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected.

Position: Hospital Discharge Co-ordinator
Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk (Commutable from Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and surrounding areas)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £21,000 - £25,700 per annum

About the role:

The Hospital Discharge Co-ordinator supports hospital discharge strategy and planning across Suffolk, ensuring that understanding and processes are embedded to give partners the fullest ability to have their voices heard by decision-makers.

This role would normally report to the Service Manager or Managing Advocate and be responsible for providing a direct service to support and enable people to leave hospital.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be a strong leader and motivator of people with the ability to manage and lead people through change. You will have significant experience of delivering advocacy to people whose voices might not otherwise be heard and whose rights might not otherwise be upheld. You will hold an Independent Advocacy Qualification or have a willingness and ability to work towards one.

You will be a strong relationship builder and have a professional, collaborative approach when working with stakeholders, whether these are teams of professionals or individuals. You will have a positive “can do” attitude and be able to “sell” the benefits of the organisation to prospective funders / commissioners. You will also have IT skills and a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A full and clean Driving Licence with access to a car in order to visit locations across Suffolk is essential.

A passion for Charity and the Third Sector and experience / knowledge of working in a hospital environment would be an advantage. Experience of working with people with mental health needs and people with learning disabilities would also be beneficial.
