Bioscience Team Leader

£33000 - 35000 plus benefits

The Company

My client is a successful global company that provides a variety of on-site Laboratory Services to major pharmaceutical companies. They have an exciting Lab Manager opportunity of a small team and the operations at a respected pharmaceutical site ideal for an organised and proactive biological scientist for R&D biological laboratories.

This company offers a wonderful opportunity for development and career progression. They seek communicative, enthusiastic and capable scientists for their roles and reward their employees a varied and valuable working experience.

The Job

Working autonomously, this position is a multi-faceted role where you will look after a small team of technicians and manage the operations of a variety of Bioscience laboratories where they do studies and necropsy work. You will be the single point of contact for multiple people within the labs from technicians, scientists, to engineers.

Using your organisational and people skills, you will liaise with multiple contacts to ensure the labs are running smoothly. Using lean methodologies, 5s etc. you will champion improvements to processes, improving efficiency, reducing time and cost, enabling the scientists to have more time and resources to carry out their core duties.

You will also handle some sample dispatch facilities and as part of your role you will be required to receive, pack, prepare and ship R&D samples, so you will need to be happy with being hands on!

About You

To apply for this role you should demonstrate:

  • A degree level or equivalent in Biological Science or pharmaceutical science or similar
  • Considerable experience in a research laboratory
  • Experience with managing a team and/or supporting lab operations. For example, setting up a new lab, restructuring a lab, implementing process improvements using Lean sigma, CI etc
  • Good problem solving capabilities and confidence to react promptly
