Job Position: Design Engineer (Hydraulics experience)

Job Status: Permanent

Job Profile: Responsible for NPI the successful applicants will join a dynamic team working on world leading products.

Qualifications / Experience:

* An understanding of off highway construction or agricultural equipment would be advantageous.
* Ideally, you will have a strong engineering background, possessing a Degree/HND/HNC + equivalent experience.
* Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm as well as a sense of URGENCY and ownership of projects they are involved with.
* Demonstrates creativity and innovation within the discipline of the hydraulic subsystem of mobile construction equipment.
* Awareness of cost implications for full component life cycle.
* Working understanding of Engineering Sign Off (ESO) procedures.
* Competent with systems and procedures of the department e.g. Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.
* Test procedures, rig operation, test equipment etc.
* Demonstrates ability to take responsibility for the design/development of Hydraulic subsystem – From concept to on-line manufacture.
* Capable of executing analysis, calculations & hydraulic circuit design with tools such as automation studio.
* Capable of working from engineering brief as well as arrangement models.
* Understands impact on full systems of own work / Full system awareness.
* Continues to learn demonstrable new skills and apply them within workplace.
* Has a positive impact and influence on both colleagues and work outside their own area of responsibility.
* Capable of presenting to small groups of people.
* Both formally and informally in a confident effective manner.
* Ability to positively represent the Company group e.g. to both suppliers and customers.
* Capable of interpreting and using test data and analysistechniques results correctly.
* Contributes meaningfully to discussions on complete systems as well as own sub-system.
* Able to lead some Design and Development projects / programmes, works to a budget and a timing plan.
* Demonstrates engineering progression through knowledge and understanding.
* Demonstrates and has whole machine / system knowledge.
* Ability to work as part of a Global team interacting with engineers at other sites such as Brazil, China & India.
* A working knowledge of Global mobile hydraulic component supply base would be an advantage.
* Ability to adhere to sub-component supplier installation sign off requirements.

Responsibilities:

* Design of major machine elements and sub-systems to meet internal and external standards.
* Progress prototype builds to plan to allow testing.
* Completion of design activity to close out Engineering risks.
* Failure investigation and analysis – 8D.
* Presentation of design solutions at design reviews.
* Develop and validate component and system specifications.
* Formal design documentation to include; FMEA, DFMEA, DVPSOR, Risk Assessment, change documentation and drawings.
* Will complete full Product Improvement (PI)change note documentation.
* Suggest ways of continuous improvement
* Actively promotes cost reduction and quality improvement activities.
* Interprets standards related to off highway mobile machinery and applies to own work.
* Would normally be responsible for meeting timing, technical requirements, costs legal requirements of elements of new products.
* Work with teams in China & India and some overseas travel may be necessary in the future.

Basic Hours: 39hrs / week
