Payroll Assistant

To assist with the processing of monthly payrolls and provide payroll advice and information to employees.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Check, calculate and input monthly timesheets
• Process variations such as new starters, leavers, promotions etc
• Check and maintain sickness records and annual leave.
• Assist with pay runs, checking reports
• Collation and sending out of payslips and P60s at year end.
• Deal with queries from the tax office, individuals and any other outside bodies.
• Assist with the implementation of pay rises and incremental advances.
• To main confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
• To adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures.
• To undertake any necessary training required of the role.
• To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall Payroll function.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Skills:
Fully conversant with all relevant software applications MS office, word, excel

Essential
Good knowledge of Payroll and Financial practices and procedures
An understanding of tax and National Insurance
Good keyboard and typing skills
Experience of Access and KCS
Experience working in a Payroll role department
Administrative experience e.g. data input, keeping electronic/paper records
Experience working on payroll systems such as iTrent and Cold Harbour T/A
