Over the 2 years you'll undertake key skills training which will culminate in the award of a National or Scottish Vocational Qualifications (NVQ /SVQ) in radiation protection. At the end of the programme you will possess skills and qualifications that are in very high demand, which will present opportunities both in the UK and overseas.

The Apprenticeship is a 2-year programme, which offers on-the-job training, qualifications, excellent pay and good career prospects all in one go!

Health Physics Apprentice - Main Purpose

To monitor radiation levels to demonstrate the engineering controls remain adequate to control the hazard;

To monitor radiation levels in support maintenance and decommissioning activities, which may circumvent or remove the engineered controls; &

To provide monitoring support to recovery plans in the event of a radiation accident.

Health Physics Apprentice- Position in the organisation

Report to health physics charge hands/supervisors/resource manager;

Liaise with client building supervisors;

Liaise with client shift managers;

Liaise with various bodies in site emergency situation; &

Liaise with external customer representatives.

Application criteria:

You will need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade B including English, Mathematics and a Science. Computer literate would be a definite advantage.

You need to be able to pass a medical to become a Classified Worker

You need will need to be able to gain the appropriate Security Clearance

Minimum age requirement is 18, which is the minimum age for Classified Workers
