The village of South Ormsby is an estate of c3000 acres nestled within the Lincolnshire Wolds and is an area of outstanding natural beauty, rich in wildlife.

The new custodians of the South Ormsby Estate are restoring the heritage of the estate and rejuvenating the local economy. Building upon a historic past and using the latest technology, their vision is to create the best place to invest, work, live, play and retire to.

The Role: Share Farming Opportunity - Apprentice Cattle Keeper

The Estate is home to 120 endangered, breeding Lincoln Red cattle out of a total of just 450 in the UK. The opportunity has arisen for a commercially astute individual with experience of working with beef cattle to join the team at South Ormsby. In 18 to 24 months the position is likely to become a share farming role in which you will take responsibility for the pedigree herd of Original Lincoln Red Cattle. This is an incredibly lucrative opportunity which will see you develop into a Herd Manager and then business leader, subsequently sharing profits.

You will initially join the team as an Apprentice Cattle Keeper in order to learn all there is to know about the breed and making the Estate’s pedigree Lincoln herd profitable. You will be a passionate individual ready to assist in the day-to-day care of the cattle as well as identifying and developing future commercial opportunities for the Estate. You will have the support and guidance and of a highly experienced team, knowledgeable in all aspects surrounding the development of a business and agriculture.

Responsibilities: Share Farming Opportunity - Apprentice Cattle Keeper

- Assisting in the day-to-day care of the herd

- Identifying commercial opportunities relating to the herd.

- In time, take on a share farming partnership

- In time, take on full responsibility for the Herd

- Drawing up budgets for the breeding and marketing of the Lincoln Red cattle.

- Capital expenditure budgets and staffing budgets

Experience Required: Share Farming Opportunity - Apprentice Cattle Keeper

- Must hold a relevant qualification in an agricultural or environmental discipline.

- Exposure to and an interest in branding and marketing.

- Experience working within an agriculturally related position, ideally with beef livestock

- Experience undertaking a graduate management scheme would be advantageous.
