Our established client is looking to recruit an Essential Skills Tutor to deliver essential skills ensuring compliance to organisational and regulatory body requirements and provide excellent teaching and support to learners and staff. This role needs a tutor more biased on literacy and English. Ideally has experience with WEST diagnostic toolkit, the level 3 practitioner Qualification, or equivalent and experience of working with the new Essential Skills Wales qualifications.


Promote essential skills and life learning, its potential to benefit people emotionally, intellectually, socially and economically.

Ensuring the development and achievement of essential skills to learners/employees to level 1-3 as part of their study programme.

Support the achievement of quality standards.

Carry out diagnostic testing, develop and deliver appropriate training to learners and staff.

Target learners with measurable goals.

Ensure that learners make good progress through effective tracking.

Ensure that delivery is varied, motivational and flexible to the needs of learners.

Ensure all completed paperwork complies with organisational and external regulatory body requirements.

Paperwork to be submitted timely.

Action plans to be completed and filed timely.

ILPs to be updated monthly.

Involve employers on a monthly basis in learner progress reviews.

Skills Required

Delivery of Essential Skills

Specialist teaching qualification in Literacy and or Numeracy - minimum level 3

GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent in Maths and English

Desirable PGCE/Cert Ed

Desirable Assessors/Verifiers qualification

Desirable Digital Literacy Practitioner

We am looking for someone to join a team of 5 ESW assessors who is used to working as part of a wider work based learning team.

We need someone with experience of the new essential skills suite who can deliver all qualifications up to level 3.

They need to be comfortable with the tasks and tests and be experienced in preparing people for the tasks and tests in all 3 qualifications.

There will be some workshop delivery and some 1-2-1 delivery of the essential skills in various locations.

The ideal candidate would be experienced using the WEST diagnostic tool and using the teaching tools within WEST. The successful applicant will hold a teaching qualification along with an assessing/IQA qualification.

To work as a very close-knit team and work together supporting each other with the successful completion of KPIs.

Salary 23-24K plus mileage and ongoing career development.
