LOANS OFFICER

TEMP TO PERM

£20K ++

My client is looking a new temp member to join their Loans Department.They believe in ethical lending and ensure that every loan request is carefully and individually considered.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an objective and diligent approach. Time is taken to understand their members’ needs and to fully understand their situation. The right candidate will be curious and ask the right questions to get the right information. Must have great attention to detail and be able to make sound and logical decisions.

Must demonstrate clear communication skills when dealing with member have a helpful and friendly manner.Highly organised and conscientious in dealing with our member loan files and associated information.

Must be confident to challenge where you feel something may not be right and demonstrate the Treating Customers Fairly principles at all times.

Duties

·Assessing and making decisions on loan applications including reviewing member affordability and making loan offers to members

·Assessing and underwriting loan applications in line with the PSCU lending policy

·Dealing with inbound loan enquiries

·Inputting loan applications onto internal systems and monitoring the return of associated documentation which includes chasing information

·Making suggestions of where processes could change to achieve better outcomes for PSCU members

·Raising and discussing more complex loan queries with the Senior Loans Officer

·Delivering a great experience to members and taking time to build relationships that encourage members to return

·Working with members to reschedule loans where required

·Updating and maintaining accurate member records

·To identify and share member insight with other relevant teams within PSCU

·Ensure PSCU members are kept up to date with their loan application and receive the right information before, during and after their application

·Support, guide and coach other members of the PSCU team to aid the delivery of great service to members

·Take ownership for member enquiries and complaints within the loans team and manage these through to resolution where possible

·Develop and maintain awareness of PSCU risks and risk frameworks in line with regulatory expectations

·Liaising appropriately with the finance team to ensure loan repayments are set up effectively

·Maintain and develop own skills, knowledge and behaviours as well as keep up to date with regulatory standards and changes

·To demonstrate the PSCU values and competencies at all times

·To assist with and provide support to other projects and activities as and when required.

Essential

·Good standard of general education in particular English Language and Mathematics

·Must have 1-2 years’ experience within a previous loans position including underwriting

·Experience of acting within and meeting regulatory framework expectations and working within a regulated environment

·Experience of identifying and reporting risks effectively

Desirable:

·Qualification in personal lending or underwriting

·Business or finance related qualification

·Experience in MS Office Package

·Sound overview of the responsible finance and financial inclusion
