This role is within Atos's Business and Platform Solutions division (B&PS), within the Application Development practice. This team is responsible for the specification, architecture definition, design and development of bespoke software applications and application integration projects. The team works across a wide range of vertical markets such as Government, Transport, Energy, Healthcare, Telecoms and Media.

Members of the practice may be assigned to a variety of long term engagements (c. 2 year assignments), short term projects (c. 6 months) and short term consultancy engagements. They may also be involved in supporting pre-sales activities as a subject matter expert.

Main Purpose of Job

Our Application Development Practice is growing and we are looking to hire ambitious and talented professionals to supporting the growth of the practice and deliver first class services to our customers.

We are now looking to recruit a Hybrid Cloud Developer. The candidate is expected to have deep expertise in hybrid cloud solutions and cloud native development. The candidate will have deep experience in software development and integration, which should be in an Agile and DevOps context, and strong experience in designing medium and large complexity systems. In addition, the candidate will be passionate about finding the right solution for our clients.

As a Hybrid Cloud Developer you role will be varied but could potentially include:

Understanding customer requirements and how to translate them into a technical solution.
High level design of the cloud solution, including planning and costing of the necessary components.
Interfacing between Atos and customer teams to ensure alignment of requirements of the provided solution.
Creating proof of concepts for customers using their hands on experience with the product and integration stack.
Scoping and estimating new technical solutions, and provide written input into new proposals.
Providing guidance to development teams and coach / mentor developers and architects on the technical vision, Atos technical strategy, and use of hybrid cloud technologies.
Providing technical assurance to solutions across bids and in-flight deliveries.
Owning and driving best practice and enforce quality standards both on projects and across the wider Application Development practice.
Troubleshoot projects, leading and contributing to remediation plans as needed.
Working with a mix of different stakeholders - including business users, senior technical specialists, technical delivery teams as well as alliances/sales teams (tailoring their presentation to non-technical audiences as appropriate).
Keeping up to date with technology improvements and identifying their use to improve products and solutions

Essential Skills

Expert knowledge of at least two public cloud platforms; Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform
Expert in build tool Ansible is essential. Knowledge of Chef, Puppet and /or Vagrant is desirable
Detail knowledge of availability zones with reference to designing and building resilient cloud solutions
Detail knowledge of web based security and authentication such as SAML and OAUTH
Experience of designing, building and operating secure, scalable and resilient cloud based software applications
Experience in container technologies such as Docker, Rocket, Warden or Garden
Excellent communications skills, be able to explain and justify technical design choices or options
Experience of Cloud Application platforms; RedHat Openshift Container Platform or Pivotal Cloud Foundry
Expert in Agile processes such as Scrum and Kanban
Experience in continuous integration/delivery
Expert in continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity or BambooHands-on experience in the design and build of Cloud Native solutions.
Customer facing experience.
Writing and/or providing input to proposals.
Experience performing technical assurance of bespoke solutions
Ability to put delivery timescales implementation and cost estimates together based on proposed architecture/design and risks.
Experience of technical risk management, budgeting and planning activities
Keen interest in future technologies and the strategic direction of software and systems delivery
Fluent English: Able to communicate in both written and verbally to stakeholders across the business. Able to effectively explain technical ideas and concepts to a non-technical audience.
Project delivery experience within iterative and agile software development methodologies
Willing to undertake UK wide travel as required.
Able to undertake and successfully gain SC level security clearance checks
Design for non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability, portability, security, etc.

Desirable Skills

Certification in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform
Experience in Test Driven Development and Test Automation
Experience of Behaviour Driven Development and Executable Specifications
Understanding of infrastructure / networks required to enable bespoke cloud native software solutions.
Current security clearance
Awareness of project management methodologies / frameworks
Virtualization technologies
Network defense technologies (e.g. direct and reverse proxies, firewalls, etc.)
Awareness and/or experience of designing / delivering multi-channel applications (including mobile devices)
