Morgan King are looking for a Commercial Accountant on behalf of their client based in the Wakefield area. The ideal candidate will have an insolvency background.

The Role

The Commercial Accountant will report to the Finance Director, and will have a wide ranging remit that will include:

·analysing the proposals that are presented to the company, which will include asset backed lending opportunities, equity investments, and short term bridging finance

·sourcing new lending opportunities and liaising with the network of introducers

·the identification of target acquisitions based on analysis of market data

·coordinating due diligence reports and assisting with the acquisition process

·preparing timely performance reports for the board of directors on a weekly and monthly basis

·improving the current reporting format and recording performance against KPI’s

·supporting the FD in reviewing the accounts and payroll reports of other group companies

·offering commercial support to the directors of the business on an ad hoc basis

·full statutory and management account responsibility

·review of group overheads and identification of savings

·assisting and supporting the finance team of the group businesses as and when required

·responsibility for audit and banking relationships

·company secretarial duties

The Person

The successful candidate must be a qualified accountant (ideally ACA, but not essential) and will have:

·an analytical approach, with good attention to detail

·excellent communication and presentation skills

·confidence, and an assertive nature; be prepared to challenge the proposals and opportunities presented without being confrontational

·the ability to communicate complex financial information succinctly

·the ability to operate independently when required, and to manage several projects simultaneously

·a willingness to get involved at an operational level, and to take responsibility for projects directly

·a people centric approach; the ideal candidate will enjoy interaction with clients, the supply chain and other members of the team.

·excellent Excel skills, and the ability to use Excel tools to analyse large data sets (SQL experience also useful but not essential)

·the drive to ensure our commitments are met, even if this means working outside of normal office hours to do so

·a full UK driving licence and will be prepared to travel to meet clients, or attend meetings at the companies group sites

The role would be ideal for a newly qualified accountant who is looking to do more with their career than just produce the company accounts.We are looking for a candidate who aspires to be a relationship manager and business advisor, and has the ambition to forge a role within the business that they help to define.
