Shorterm Group are recruiting for the following:

JOB TITLE: 6 x Mechanical Modifications Technicians
JOB LOCATION: MULTIPLE LOCATIONS - Battersea & Hornsey
HOURLY PAY RATE: £20.50Ltd (NON RAIL COMPETENT). £22.50Ltd (ONCE RAIL COMPETENT)
SHIFTS: Minimum of 46 hours a week
SHIFT PATTERN: Fully flexible to support 24/7 Cover. This includes working Days/ Nights & Weekends.
DURATION: On-going contract
ROLLING STOCK: CLASS 387 Electrostars (EMU - Electrical Multiple Unit).
START DATE: ASAP

Position Summary:

Working at Battersea OR Hornsey Depot we require 6 Mechanical Modifications Technicians who will initially be engaged for the implementation of a suite of mechanical modifications on our Class 387 Electrostar Project.

In addition the position holder will eventually be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repair and fault finding on Class 387 Electric Multiple Unit. Take overall responsibility of vehicle examinations in line with vehicle maintenance instructions (VMI's).

Undertake all types of mechanical maintenance examination work to ensure that we provide a safe, reliable, and defect free train. Take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of oneself and others under your control.

Duties could include the following:

*Carry out basic mechanical fault finding
*Carry out basic mechanical fault rectification
*Carry out basic Heating & Ventilation modifications
*Bogie overhaul, damage repair and engineering
*Wheel set overhaul, repair and analysis
*Bogie chassis, damage repair and clean
*Bogie and gearbox engineering / repair
*Wheel exchange on wheel sets
*Bearing, axle and wheel mounting
*Changing relay boxes
*Driver seats
*Wiper motors
*Couplers
*Carrying out inspections and checks to ensure reliability of fleet
*Carrying out mechanical modifications
*Carrying out work recording via both paperwork and computer (SAP)

Qualifications / Education required:

Electrical Engineer - Minimum requirements NVQ Level 3 award in an Electrical discipline or similar.
Mechanical Engineer - Minimum requirements NVQ Level 3 award in a Mechanical discipline.
